My parents are from the Bahamas, and my mother immigrated to America shortly after graduating high school. Although my mother attended community college, she could not finish when she had me and my sisters (we're triplets!). I always knew that college would provide me new experiences and a path to reach my full potential. Being a low-income, First-Generation college student was quite the challenge, considering I had to navigate the entire experience myself. However, I am so grateful to show others you can accomplish your dreams despite your circumstances! Since graduating with my undergraduate degree, I have also gone on to earn my MBA and am currently in pursuit of my doctorate degree here at UNCC. To other First-Generation college students: don't get discouraged; you can be all you desire!
